Mysteries in a Valletta Monastery

Mysteries in a Valletta Monastery

Uncover the stories hidden for 400 years, in the Mysterium Fidei cloistered monastery

Discover Secrets of the Sisters

For 400 years no-one was allowed into St Catherine’s Monastery – and the nuns inside chose never to go out.

This very special guided event, held after hours, will show you where the nuns live, reveal the truth behind the monastery’s “control rooms”, and lead you into the candlelit crypt where you’ll be told of the rituals surrounding its death bed.

You’ll also learn of the many curiosities found within this ancient building, hear how convent life was organised to be self-sufficient over the centuries, and be told of the link between the plague and the origins of the monastery.

Tour numbers are strictly limited to ensure an intimate experience.

**PLEASE NOTE – payment is required in advance to secure your booking**

Part of the monastery includes the Mysterium Fidei Museum which is the section that has been opened to the public.

Held in collaboration with Hidden Valletta, this tour is part of the Behind Closed Doors series from Dark Malta Tours.

These special events take you off the streets and into fascinating places to experience their unique histories.
