Dark Malta Tours is run by licensed tourist guide Mario Cacciottolo.

A native of both Malta and the UK, he spent 15 years working as a journalist, ten of which were at the BBC in London.

Now he combines his love and knowledge of Maltese history with the journalistic accuracy he employed while working on news stories in print, online, radio and TV in places like the UK, Malta, Israel and the West Bank, France and Sierra Leone.

Having spent years researching the truth about the darker side of Maltese history using rare books, archives and academic papers, he now tells these stories on his dark history walking tours, designed to enlighten, educate and entertain.

Mario won the Tourism Worker of the Year (Travel & Tourism Services) award at the Malta Tourism Awards 2024.
